I met David at a couple of coffee events. A nice guy.

Sounds like a really fun place to work! I hope I get to try the coffee soon!

  • Dave Dean

Just listened to the podcast. Excellent. Love the rolling desk idea and appreciate the encouraging culture as described!

Great Interview. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but if the the shops in my neighborhood had a culture that Dillanos, they’d definitely have another patron.

Dillanos has a fantastic product and a culture and management style that could and should be studied and shared with the rest of the world…at least America [smile]

Thanks to both David and Chris for this interview and for making daily life more enjoyable. #nice

I used a hashtag and I’m not on Twitter…oh dear. That’s OK. I do it all the time. Now where’s my coffee cup….

“Do less and be excellent more offen” When David Morris said these word, I was awakened. I am a young entrepreneur and I am in the process of growing as a leader. I know that opportunity is always knocking, because I am knocking on the door. I will keep knocking until opportunity that I have been preparing for is found.
David, I am taking you advice
    Thank You !!!

    Chris,

Thanks for keeping the great interviews coming! I second the desire to see all 22 questions. The two revealed are going right into my interviews trying to choose doctors in training. Creativity offers the chance to improve our current practice and I’m looking for innovative learners. Loved the rolling desk idea as well!

I’d love some free coffee. Thanks for this interview. I thought it was very inspiring.

  • Tracy Riba

Thank you David for your testimony. It’s encouraging that you still take time to pray for your team members but keep them laughing regularly.

Free coffee!! YEAH!!! The more I hear about Dillanos, the more I want to spread the love. I’ve been in the areas of Southeast Mexico where they grow coffee. I’ve seen people get nothing for their labor and I’ve seen 2 year-old kids carrying 15 lb bags of beans. I choked up when David explained how they deal directly with the farmers and pay good prices for high quality plus how they take care of them with health insurance. A leader who had the vision to start with a coffee cart, turn it into a multi-million dollar enterprise AND takes care of is suppliers, his team and his customers, deserves my respect and some of my money. I will definitely be a long-time Dillanos fan!

Loved the podcast.. I am going to start communicating more with my team from now on!! I am going to have to listen to this podcast more than once to digest all of the great information provided! Thank you!

I related well to his explanation of the importance of the front desk. I had a conversation with my secretary last week (I’m a pastor). She didn’t understand that telling the world what our office hours are meant that she needed to be there during those hours. Silly, I know, but without communicating that frustration, it ate away at me. Now that we chatted about it, I feel that a great weight has been lifted, knowing I’ve communicated the expectation : )

    And I love free coffee!!!

  • Lallenia

This just got me REALLY excited!!!! I heard this podcast & was wondering how to get some of his coffee!!!! You guys are so awesome! Thank you for building up people & company through your advice and words of wisdom!!!

If every company leader listened to this and did just one…not two or three or all…of the things that Dillanos is doing, this world would be a much better place.

The most amazing part to me was literally in the last minute or so. That every single employee participates in the family relief fund. THAT is incredible.

This is something everyone should be required to listen to in business school. Or period…just make everyone listen to it. Can I get an act of Congress?

I really enjoyed this interview and I have great respect for David. As I listened, it really helped put into prospective what we as future coffee shop owners look for in a roaster and what we can do to promote great culture in our business. Thank you for the wisdom and I am eager to buy your books.

  • Kyle Morrow

Its so awesome to see a business owner not only encouraging his team members to
have a great time, but also bringing a lot to the table himself.
Congruent with this, Dillanos manages to execute the business plan and
produce an amazing product. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of
his team members. Immediately when I walked through the doors, I felt a
culture only comparable to a family. This guy is doing it right!

  • http://caroldublin.com/ Carol Dublin

Oh my goodness, more Dillanos goodness! Love this company and the culture and of course, I am hooked on this coffee! It’s way better than Seattle’s Best (I used to sell it and thought it was the best until I tasted Dillanos). The more I hear, the more I’m impressed with the high quality of leadership at Dillanos. Thanks for sharing Chris!

    • Steve Pate

      agreed!

  • Steve Pate

Enjoyed, enjoyed and enjoyed this extended interview. With out looking deeper in to David’s company and I can tell that they are real and not doing it to prove something to the no named faces out there. In fact even though I haven’t tried their coffee yet, I want to do business with them.

Where I property manage, we serve Seattle’s best, and its a good coffee but I’m willing to bet their really not the best in Seattle! Also I would like to see what we can do to serve his brand and support his efforts on “real trade” business with the coffee bean growers so they can get more bling for their shirts!

Man I can’t help to be stoked from listening to both of those interviews! Being I live in Leavenworth WA, I’m going to make an effort just to stop by their place just to see it for my self.

    Thanks for having him on!

I went to Dillano’s website, and as much as it pains me, I created yet another account name and password because I want to do business with this great company.

Nice discount – thank you for that! It was the little boost that pushed me into ordering every dark roast you had for my broken-hearted Niner fan husband.

P.S. Thank you for the interview. Now I know how to pronounce “Dih- LAHN-oze”. 8-)

Loved the interview last week…can’t wait to listen to the extended interview

  • http://www.twitter.com/erikjfisher/ Erik Fisher

I love coffee. I love free coffee even more. Even if “there is no free lunch”, there is definitely free coffee. :)

Thank you for this extended interview!
