Question: Why do you want Reid’s book?

  • kj72

I’m interested in this book because I feel a bit stuck in my career and could use a new lens for the value I bring to the marketplace.

  • Steve Pate

The year 2012 as been a year of “Awaking” for me in many areas. So for 2013 I’m going to be a sponge with action. With Reid’s material this will further help me place feet to some of my ideas! Thanks for a chance to win a book.

    • Steve Pate

Also thanks for putting these extended interviews on the Pod cast. repetition is learning!

I’m interested in the book from a social media standpoint. As someone who works in social media from a “day job” stand point, and is also building a personal platform, I’m eager to hear from the co-founder of a social network for business professionals.

I just started my new business 60 days ago and could use some direction and would love to have this book. Great podcast!

  • Steve Stowe

All of yours (Chris) and DR’s recommendations for reading have, so far, been astounding and right what I’ve needed, when I’ve needed it. So I want this book to continue my learning and growing process. Plus, the interview was awesome (as always) and Linked In is something that I have been on (but not ‘in’ if that makes any sense) since the beginning. And anything I can learn from minds way smarter than mine, is going to improve my life!

Great interview! My favorite takeaway: “Be proactive on social networks” This blog and the blog community are a great example of that.

Reid’s book fits perfectly with one of my goals this year at work. I am in the process of trying to get our company name recognized as a leader in the industry and one of my methods for doing this is to develop my network. Being an introvert makes this process challenging, but I believe this book could help jump start my networking process. And LinkedIn has been one of my focus points for developing that network, so it would great to hear about it from the designer himself. Thanks for the interview!

I just started a new business this past summer full time. As a 24 year old, I know that I’m very inexperienced and would love to learn from Mr. Hoffman how to successfully invest in my life and business. I listened to the podcast a while ago and learned a lot – as I do every podcast. I know this book would be a great help in my life.

I want Reid’s book because my career opportunities are my responsibility. It is all about personal empowerment today, and I know Reid has a ton of wisdom to share about it.

Like Matt and Josh I’m a firm believer of the entrepreneurial/business/leadership principles that all the great teachers at the Lampo group share with us. I am looking to really drive my brand in 2013 and would love to learn some great lessons from someone who has built a real internet brand into a verb! Not only will I read and absorb the book — but I will also pass it along!

I’ve been blogging (semi) successfully for a couple of years now, and just branched out in a new direction with my writing. In order to properly establish my “brand”, this book would be a great help. Thanks for the opportunity!

I want his book to help my to really develop my brand/platform. I’ve started to work on developing some by connecting with people through Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin (a little bit), and blogging. I’d really like to be able to expand my reach and ability to help others.

Let me answer in twitter talk: Because you can’t start anything until you start yourself!

  • Jaselyn Taubel

I am 24 years old, and my job is to lead and mentor college students, while simultaneously preparing them to run their own business for a summer through my company’s internship program. During the summer, I also participate in the program as a field sales organizational leader, and I have found that the best way to help inspire college students to do and be their best is to do and be my best myself. Charlie Jones says that in five years, you will be the same person you are today except for the books you read and the people you meet. I feel that the best way for me to continue leading and inspiring others is to lead and inspire myself through conversations and good books. “The Start Up of You” would definitely help me to continue growing, and would provide me with more resources through which I can better prepare the students I work with to have a successful summer and a successful life.

I’m probably “half-way” through my career. This is a great time to reevaluate. What am I doing? Why am I doing it? How am I doing it? I think Reid’s book could provide excellent insight to help me process where I am and where I’m going.

I’m kind of in the Dave Ramsey camp on entrepreneurial/business/leadership advice. I don’t really do well with books by Harvard professors. I want advice from someone who has been “in the trenches,” like Reid Hoffman.

The fact is that he started a wildly successful business and I want to do the same. I can’t imagine not learning at least one thing in this book that won’t help me be a better business owner and leader.

    • http://www.joshuarivers.net/ Joshua Rivers

You’re “kind of” in the Dave Ramsey camp! What kind of wishy-washy talk is that! ha! I’m kind of in the same camp, too. :)
