I read this on my friend Jill Boorman’s FaceBook this morning:
John D. Rockefeller, at the age of 86, penned the following words to sum up his life:
“I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.”
We should all live this way!

Thanks, Chris! This is a great example. We should all strive to live this way. Forget “all work and no play.” Do work you love. I can’t remember where I heard it, but people should have a hard time telling the difference between our work and play!
Our worship pastor at church said it very well yesterday…
“I was on my way to work…wait I don’t like to call this work, I like to call it ‘fun.’ Because this is FUN. I was on my way to fun. I hope all of you have jobs like that.”

This is a common discussion among the ambitious. I’m happy to say that I have learned to play while I work at personal growth. The key is to get rid of the time wasters that don’t rejuvenate, or enhance your life.

Love it! Thanks Chris. Our crew at work was laughing all day yesterday, even though we were busy. Can’t say that any of us love being there and away from our families all weekend, but we do have fun while we are there.

ps. You would never guess by looking at this guy’s picture that he felt this way. Makes me realize that I need to smile more too.
I’d stick with the last part “God was good to me every day”. God is GREAT to me every day and that makes life worth living. Love, family, health, happiness… all come from that loving God over and over on a daily basis. Thanks for great inspiration and glad to see you back here!
I’d say the awesomeness of Rockefeller’s summation is even more over the top since he sports a mustache that would make him fit in with all the “Movember” stuff going on this day and age.
