Why Good Deals Go Quiet
The real reason deals stall – and the questions that stop it.
Your pipeline looks fine on paper. Deals sit in “in progress” for weeks. Then they just disappear.
Most teams answer with more emails, more calls, another discount. It rarely moves anything.
That’s because the deal didn’t break where anyone’s looking. It broke earlier – before the pitch, before the proposal, before any of the usual fixes had a chance.
No cost. No catch. Just real sales training for owners and their teams.
Owners: bring your salespeople. This works best when you go through it together.
Sound familiar?
Your team is good with people.
The deals still stall.
It’s not a motivation problem. Your people aren’t lazy or dishonest. There’s a specific moment in almost every sales conversation where the deal is won or lost, and most salespeople blow right past it.
-
Sales that swing month to month, with a forecast you can never fully trust
-
The biggest deals still routing through you because you’re the only one who can really close
-
Discounting to win instead of selling the value, quietly killing your margin
-
A team that avoids the ask because selling feels gross, so they let deals drift
Here’s what nobody wants to hear
It’s not a closing problem.
It’s a system problem.
Most sales training pours all its attention into closing lines and objection scripts (the end of the conversation), when the real leverage is at the beginning. That’s why the harder your team works on closing, the more stuck they feel. They’re fixing the wrong end.
Your Host
Joel Fortner
Sales Leader · The Poimen Group
Joel Fortner has spent years inside The Poimen Group helping business owners and their teams fix what’s actually broken, not with pressure or tricks, but with systems that hold. He’s coached salespeople who used to dread the ask into reps who close with confidence, and he built the Persuasive-Servant Selling curriculum this workshop is drawn from.
His approach is simple: selling should feel like serving. Joel teaches the same discovery-first approach he’s used to help teams stop guessing, stop pitching too soon, and start uncovering the real problem so the right solution becomes obvious, the kind of sale the buyer feels good about, too.
What you’ll walk away with
The five stages your sales process actually needs.
This isn’t a motivational talk or a bag of closing tricks. Every stage is practical, direct, and built around the real reason deals stall. We’ll go deep on the one stage that quietly decides most deals, and you’ll leave able to use it on your very next call.
See Why Deals Really Stall
The reframe that changes everything: it’s not a closing problem, it’s a system problem. Joel shows you where deals actually die, and it’s never where you think.
Run Discovery That Uncovers the Real Problem
Most sales problems are discovery problems. You’ll learn the layered questions that get the buyer to say the truth out loud, and talk themselves toward the decision.
Move to Solutions Without Sounding Like a Pitch
The clumsy gear-shift is what makes buyers re-guard. Joel shows you how to move from discovery to your solution so smoothly the buyer never feels “sold.”
Present So the Buyer Sees Themselves in It
Stop dumping features. You’ll learn to connect every point back to something the buyer actually said, so the solution feels built for them, because it was.
Ask for the Sale Without Pressure
The clear, confident invitation that closes through service instead of force. No scripts, no manipulation, no discount-to-close reflex.

What sellers are saying
Real reps. Real change.
“The questions I’m asking my prospects now have totally changed the way I sell, getting them to open up and give me their real pain issue to solve. It makes the process so much more about solving a need than trying to sell a product. Boosting my sales, confidence, and self-assurance all around!”
Dustin Duncan
Quality Storage Buildings
“The last year of coaching has been a blessing, and challenging. I’ve seen an increase in my sales and gained a lot of insight on the big impact you can have with such a small question at times. It’s been great!”
Ricky Scott
Quality Storage Buildings
“My sales coaching has been incredibly fruitful, not only in increasing my sales volume but in enhancing my approach to sales conversations, handling objections, and becoming a trusted advisor rather than just a salesperson.”

Common questions
Is this actually free?
Yes, completely free. Register with your name and email to save your seat. There’s no cost, no catch, and no obligation. At the end of the workshop Joel will share how to keep building the skill inside Persuasive-Servant Selling, but attending is 100% free.
What if I can’t make it live?
Register anyway. A replay will be available to everyone who registers, but only for a limited window. You’ll get the most out of this by attending live, since Joel takes real questions and works real sales situations during the session.
How long is the workshop?
Plan for about 60 minutes. Joel teaches the five-stage system, goes deep on the discovery stage live, then opens the floor for Q&A. The Q&A is where some of the best breakthroughs happen, so don’t leave early.
Can I bring my sales team?
Yes, please do. This works best when an owner and their salespeople go through it together, because you’ll leave with a shared language for how your team sells. Have each person register so everyone gets the replay.
I’ve done sales training before. Is this different?
Joel teaches from real-world selling and years coaching real sales teams, not from a canned script or a high-pressure playbook. If you’ve sat through “always be closing” training that felt slimy and didn’t stick, this will feel different from the first ten minutes.
What is Persuasive-Servant Selling?
Persuasive-Servant Selling (PSS) is our sales-coaching program, a step-by-step path that helps salespeople and teams master the full five-stage system through monthly coaching, accountability, and community. Joel will give you a full look at the end of the workshop. There’s no pressure, and the workshop delivers real value whether you join or not.
My deals aren’t going quiet, they’re getting priced out. Is this still for me?
Yes. Price objections are usually the same problem wearing a different face. When a buyer doesn’t feel the cost of their current situation, every number sounds high. That’s a discovery issue, and it’s what we’re working on.
