Mark Sanborn Interview – Fred 2.0

Recently my friend, Robin Robins, asked me to come out to her incredible Boot Camp event. On top of the phenomenal marketing information, she had Mark Sanborn, author of the incredible book, The Fred Factor, as the headline speaker.

So I sat down and interviewed Mark about his newly released book, Fred 2.0

Here are some highlights we discuss in the interview:

  • How you can find the life and business you really want
  • Becoming a better leader by taking the focus off of you and learning to be a “bigger, better difference maker” in other people’s lives
  • How to live an extraordinary life by believing and making the decision to be
  • The power of commitment, acting on ideas, starting small and working to continuously get better
  • The power of relationships and the 5 important elements of any relationship that take the focus off “me” and put it on somebody else as you work toward being excellent
  • And Mark’s unexpected, powerful advice to 20-year old Mark Sanborn

You can pick up a copy of this life-changing book here!

  1. I enjoyed the interview Chris. I would like to be entered for a chance to win Mark’s Fred 2.0 book.

  2. Great Interview…good to see you doing some video interviews as well as the audio versions. Chris, did you like his comment about keeping more hair. I can relate as well. ha! Have a great Day!

  3. Awesome interview! Several good points but I liked the final the best. Never lost any money I gave away, seem completely backwards!

  4. This is great, Chris! I think you read my mind, because I just shared my thoughts about “The Fred Factor” on my blog on Tuesday! 🙂 I’m hoping to share Fred 2.0 in the future, too.

I have also missed hearing your interviews! The way to interact and ask questions is phenomenal.

  5. Great interview. I love the idea of being extraordinary right where you are. I get so focused on where I want to be that I forget to be excellent in the moment.

I don’t want to win a copy of Fred 2.0 because I was fortunate to be part of the launch team and got to read the book before it was available in stores. Mark’s principles are simple and actionable. Anyone can be a Fred!! I’m completely biased on this one because I believe that this message has to be shared with the world. Thanks, Chris for an awesome interview!!!!!

  7. The message in the Fred Factor is so important in the healthcare industry (which I work in). I have often recommended the original to employees and leaders that I coach. 2.0 is on my “next to get list” for sure!
Thank you for making this opportunity available to your tribe!

  8. FYI – should the contact form ask for mailing address(since point 2 says not to put your mailing info in the comment)?
or is just name, email, and posting name all you need?
    THANK YOU!

  9. Hi Chris! I was a regular subscriber to your blog when you were with Dave Ramsey, and loved all of your interviews. I’m happy for your new business as well. There have been other interviews with Mark Sanborn I’ve heard and they are all great. Thanks for continuing to provide leadership skills to all who are interested! I’d love to receive a copy of the book too 🙂

  10. Wow! What a great interview. He understands the power of giving yourself to away to others. I look forward to hearing more great interviews from you. By the way, nice new website!

    1. Chris does some of the best interviews I have heard, and he gets the best to interview as well. You have found yourself a great treasure here. I have greatly enjoyed listening to him over the last year.

  11. Mark Sieverkropp

Powerful, powerful interview brother! I’m excited to read Fred 2.0. I love Mark’s comment about how the only thing you’ll always have in common with another person is THEIR self interest!!
So important to understand as you deal with people! Thanks so much for awesome content Chris and Mark!

  12. Thanks Chris for interviewing Mark Sanborn. I read the Fred Factor several years ago. I have to admit it changed a lot of my outlook on life. I get choose each day to be extraordinary despite our circumstances. I am looking forward to Fred 2.0

  13. Thank You Chris and Mark for the great interview. I haven’t read either of the books yet, but both sound extraordinary! My big takeaway is that being extraordinary like Fred is a choice we have to make. Fred made that choice to truly bless people by just changing how he delivers the mail. If he can do that, imagine the impact a leader could have. I would love to learn some of these methods to be that difference maker.

And as you stated, in order to do this a person has to have desire, passion, and commitment. These are all keys to finding God’s plan for your life and following it.

  14. I really appreciated his comments that the ordinary can be extraordinary. You don’t have to be a person in a high position to make a positive influence on others. The best example I can think to are the 12 disciples who were ordinary men/boys who changed the world. And like Jon Acuff says in Start, you don’t have to be in the “Guiding” stage of life to influence others, you just need to be one step ahead. I look forward to checking out the book as I am on a mission to better myself so that I can better others. John Maxwell said it best in his personal growth book, to lead others, you have to first be able to lead yourself.
