7 Steps to Build an Authentic, Effective Leadership Style

1. Know Thyself

The foundation of effective leadership starts with self-awareness. Before you can lead others, you need to know your own strengths, weaknesses, and natural tendencies.

Are you more of a visionary or an executor? Do you lead with empathy, or are you more results-driven? Understanding your unique makeup helps you lean into your strengths and recognize where you need to grow.

Self-awareness isn’t about focusing on your flaws—it’s about becoming the kind of leader that’s authentic and aligned with who you are.

2. Lead by Listening
